In my career section of these exercises I have discussed how I want to go into corporate clothing retail. You are probably thinking how does this go along with Drinking Laws and bars? Well, I currently work for Total Wine & More. Total Wine & More is the largest independent retailers for fine wine, beers, and spirits in the United States.
Total Wine has been my first experiences with retail. I feel like we are growing more and more everyday. Each year this store gets busier and busier. Total Wine is growing to be empire. We just opened our 4th store in Georgia last month.
The number one policy at Total Wine is NO MINORS! NO MINORS! NO MINORS!
From working at Total Wine I have learned about wine, retail, and Georgia's laws on alcohol. In the state of Georgia, Alcohol can't be sold on Sunday's before 12:30pm or after 10:00pm. Yet every Sunday there is a crowd of people outside the door at noon hoping to get in. Us at the store always joke about they are also the ones who vote on the laws that require us to open at 12:30pm.
While working at the register people would ask if we had a rewards programming or if we take coupons. It is illegal to do both of those things in Georgia regarding alcohol. Again, we joke that they are the ones who probably vote on that law. Especially, we they leave upset that we didn't satisfy their need of the customer always being right.
I will list other few laws:
- The alcohol has to leave in the box or bag once it have been purchase.
- It is illegal to sell alcohol below cost in the State of Georgia.
-Products have to be purchased through a distributor. You cannot buy through other retailers for other business.
