When my mom and step-dad got married our families became blended. They started dating when I was in kindergarten and were married while I was in the 3rd grade.
My sister and I gained two step- brothers and one step- sister. I was thrilled to have more siblings. I can remember wrestling, playing, and talking. There was never a dull moment around the house.
When we moved into my step- dads house, his house back was against a wooded area. Behind the house in the wooded area were a trampoline and a creek. That is where I spent most of my childhood playing and exploring. I would let my imagination run wild in the woods.

I can remember having jumping on that trampoline everyday. Whether it was rain or shine. In fact, I specifically remember on day when it was raining jumping and sliding with my new brothers and sister on the trampoline. I changed my clothes three times that day because they were soaked.
I can remember creating plays on that trampoline with a neighborhood friend. Later, on that same friend went to New York City to study theater.
That trampoline shaped our lives. We lived on that trampoline.
The woods also held a creek. We would spend time exploring along the creek for what seemed like at the miles. Our creek exploration would consist of either just two or all of us plus some neighborhood kids. In the creek we would make “waterfalls.” They weren’t really waterfalls…well we thought they were. They were rocks we would place to make a break in the water.
We would cross to the other side by hopping on rocks or walking across pipelines. It was like we were looking for something that we could never find.
The creek that flowed along the wooded area, the trampoline, and the woods were our playground.
